Adsboll, a Danish construction company, has been hit with a ransomware attack. Vice Society ransomware group posted the organization to its dark web blog page on May 30. The extent of the incident is as yet unknown. Adsboll is a Danish construction company founded in 1972 and headquartered in Kolding. Vice Society is a ransomware gang best known for targeting healthcare and education organizations. Members are thought to be Russian-speaking and have targeted organizations in both the US and Europe. Vice Society uses the Hello Kitty/Five Hands and Zeppelin ransomware toolkits. Ransomware attacks typically involve threat groups encrypting an organization’s data and demanding a ransom for the decryption key. Cybercriminals typically target organizations that will suffer greatly from stolen data or downtime, and that can afford to pay ransoms.
